Welcome to the Nightfall Dominion RP rules page! Thank you for taking the time to read and follow these guidelines.

Our goal is to maintain a fair, enjoyable, and immersive roleplaying environment, and these rules help ensure that everyone has a positive experience.

Actions Have Consequences

Just like in real life, your character’s actions in RP have consequences. Other players are free to notice, react, and respond to events around them. If your character is careless, indiscreet, or reckless, expect others to react accordingly. You cannot force other players to ignore or overlook your character’s actions.,

For example:

  • Allowed: Your character openly insults a Sith Lord in a cantina. Other Sith characters overhear this and may challenge, threaten, or even attack your character.
  • Not Allowed: Complaining that other players “aren’t ignoring it” because you didn’t expect consequences.

Why this rule exists: Actions create real stakes and immersive storytelling. If actions had no consequences, RP would feel hollow and unrealistic.

RP is Only Voided if It Violates Guild Rules

RP cannot be voided simply because you dislike the outcome. Disagreements over IC events do not justify erasing RP, and other characters are not obligated to react the way you want them to. RP is only voided if it breaks guild rules (e.g., metagaming, OOC harassment, etc.)

If you have concerns, you’re welcome to ask for clarification in a respectful and civil manner. Communication is key!

Why this rule exists: Voiding RP cheapens storytelling and deprives others of meaningful character interactions.

No Metagaming, Power-Emoting, or Auto-Hitting

Metagaming:
Using OOC (out-of-character) knowledge in-character is strictly forbidden. Your character only knows what they have personally learned in RP. Just because you read something in Discord or saw it in a character bio doesn’t mean your character knows it.

Example:

  • Not Allowed: Your character instantly knows another character’s secret identity because you read it in their bio.
  • Allowed: Your character gathers intel in RP through legitimate means (eavesdropping, investigation, interrogation, etc.).

Power-Emoting (Forcing Actions on Others):
Your character’s actions must allow the other player to respond.

Not Allowed:

  • “My character breaks your character’s arm before you can react.”
  • “Your character is instantly mind-controlled and obeys without question.”

Allowed:

  • “My character swings a baton toward your character’s arm, attempting to break it.” (This allows the other player to react.)
  • “My Sith attempts to influence your mind through the Force, but it’s up to you how effective it is.”

Why this rule exists: RP should be collaborative, not a one-sided power trip.

Auto-Hitting (Assuming Your Attack Succeeds):
All combat actions are attempts, not guarantees. If you attack, the other player must have a fair chance to respond. Major attacks (like killing or permanently maiming a character) require consent.

Allowed:

  • “My character swings a punch toward your jaw.” (Leaves room for reaction.)

Not Allowed:

  • “My character punches you in the jaw, knocking you out instantly.”

Why this rule exists: Fairness. No one enjoys RP where they have no agency over their character.

Keep Inner Monologues to Personal Stories

While thoughts and emotions add depth to a character, they should be kept to solo writing or personal logs. In group RP, focus on external actions and dialogue that other characters can actually perceive.

Example:

  • Blah: “Vindicta silently wrestled with her inner demons, torn between duty and desire.” (No one can react to this.)
  • Better: “Vindicta frowned, her expression briefly clouded before she masked it with a forced smile.” (This gives others something to respond to.)

Why this rule exists: RP is interactive storytelling. If others can’t react to it, it doesn’t belong in a group scene.

Respect Boundaries – Do Not Push Players Into Uncomfortable RP

Consent is key. If someone sets a boundary, respect it immediately. If another player says “I’m not comfortable with this,” then stop. No debate, no pressure. Always check in before engaging in intense RP themes (torture, extreme violence, etc.). Be mindful of personal triggers and respect when someone doesn’t want to engage.,

Why this rule exists: RP should be fun and enjoyable for everyone. No one should feel pressured into uncomfortable situations.

No ERP/Sexual RP in Guild Spaces

Explicit sexual content is strictly forbidden in guild channels.

Allowed:

  • Kissing, hand-holding, non-sexual intimate gestures.

Not Allowed:

  • ERP (Erotic Roleplay), overtly sexual displays, anything bordering on ERP.

If you want to engage in that type of RP, take it to DMs.

Why this rule exists: Guild spaces should be welcoming to all players, including those who prefer to avoid ERP.

Character Death & Major Injuries Are the Player’s Choice

Even in the Old Republic era, advanced technology exists to heal serious injuries. Character death, dismemberment, or major injuries are the player’s choice.

The officer team will not force character death on anyone.

Why this rule exists: Major character changes should be collaborative decisions.

Keep RP and Personal Feelings Separate

RP is storytelling, not a personal attack. Please remember that IC conflicts are not OOC conflicts. If RP upsets you, take a step back and remember: this is a game.,

Let’s keep RP fun, not stressful.

Why this rule exists: RP shouldn’t create real-life negativity.

If You Have to Leave RP Suddenly, Be Courteous

Real life comes first. If you need to step away unexpectedly, a simple “Hey, sorry, I have to go” is enough. No need for long explanations. Just don’t ghost people.,

Why this rule exists: Courtesy goes a long way in maintaining good RP experiences.

Final Notes

These rules exist to keep RP enjoyable and fair for everyone. If you ever have concerns or questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to a guild officer.

Thanks for being part of our RP community. Now let’s tell some amazing stories together!
